Is There a New Botox on the Market?

Adding to the range of available age-erasing injectables is the recently FDA-approved drug Xeomin. While it joins Botox and Dysport as popular temporary wrinkle treatments, it’s not yet clear whether it improves on the existing market in terms of either results or price. Xeomin has been available off label for the past year, and has been given the official stamp of “safe and effective” for cosmetic use. Madonna is a fan, and Stephanie Seymour professed her devotion to the toxin in an article for magazine on Dr. Fredric Brandt, the product’s foremost champion.

Brandt tells magazine that Xeomin is a purer form of botulinum toxin . It does not have other proteins so there is less immunological reaction, Brandt explains. This could mean less allergic reaction for some patients. Another benefit that separates Xeomin from the competition is that it doesnt need to be refrigerated, which means easier shipping and storage for doctors. More will be revealed as to weather Xeomin is a break through or just more of the same.
