Resort 2012’s Most Stand-Out Trends

Soft, dewy complexions and neutral tones dominated runways at this year’s Resort collections — hey, you can’t go wrong with the classics — but some designers continued with last seasons fixation on neon brights by adding ever-so-subtle pops of potent color. The models at Nina Ricci and Acne had perfectly clear skin that glowed, not shiny but awe-inspiringly transparent, while at Marc Jacobs, Yves Saint Laurent, and Richard Chai bright shades of orange, scarlet, and fuchsia were layered on models’ lips. While gorgeous skin isn’t so easily attainable, a shot of day-glo color will give life and optimism to any summer look or newly scrubbed bare foot. A few of our favorite vivid tones after the jump.

Givenchy Vernis Please! Nail Lacquer in Acid Orange:  If youre going try on neon orange, try this. Theres nothing like orange with a tan. Im also a sucker for the name and the chip-resistant formula.

Guerlain Rouge Automatique Lip Color: Launched in April 2011 as a lipstick created for a mischievous and stylish women, its the first lipstick that requires only one hand for application, freeing up the other to create mischief or just plain multitask. The package is based on a 1936 Art Deco case from Guerlains archives and the formula promises a long lasting hold.

Nars Sheer Glow Foundation: This foundation was used in the Acne 2012 resort collection to give luminous brightness and enhance without masking. It has a weightless formula that also hydrates.
